A 1v1 duel — hosts a 2-player lobby on the Best of 5 format. Share the link or wait for someone to join from the lobby browser.

A sprint for up to 10 players — first to 5 correct wins. Hosts a Race lobby ready for others to pile in.

Battle-royale for up to 10 — everyone starts with 3 lives, last player standing wins. Hosts an Elimination lobby on a 30-second round timer.

No query params — each hook hosts a lobby with the mode’s default format (Best of 5, First to 5, or 3 lives). Want different settings? Host one of these, then tweak the lobby before anyone joins, or build a fully custom room from the Multiplayer tab on the hub.

Behavior

  • Requires sign-in. A signed-out visitor is sent to login first, then bounced back to host the lobby once authenticated.
  • Firing creates a fresh PUBLIC lobby (so others can find and join it) and navigates you into the room as the host.
  • If you’re already in another lobby, the hook takes you back to that room instead of creating a duplicate.
  • The hash is read once and cleared via history.replaceState — refreshing the hub doesn’t spin up a second lobby.
